Alhamdulilah, the roofing repair work has started. The total cost of this project is $140,000 and $50,000 has been paid to the contractor.

One of the best ways to earn continuous reward from Allah (SWT) is to help build a Masjid. Allah (SWT) says: “The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is as the likeness of a grain which grows seven years, in every year a hundred grains. Allah increases manifold to whom He wills.” (Al-Baqarah: 261)
Allah (SWT) also says: “The parable of those who spend their substance in the way of Allah is that of a grain of corn: it groweth seven years, and each year hath a hundred grains”, (Al-Baqarah: 261-263)
Your reward continues both in this life and the hereafter (as long as people pray in that Masjid)
As Muslims, Allah (SWT) has enjoined us to support one another especially when it relates to the Deen. Light of Islam is currently embarking on expanding our Masjid to serve our growing members and fellow worshippers from around the world during Salat and other activities. Light of Islam Masjid which is situated at the south suburb of Chicago welcomes numerous members – from different ethnic background – every Friday for Jumat prayer and Sundays for Arabic and Qur’anic classes. During Jumat prayers for example, there are times when people will have to observe their Salat (prayer) outside simply because there is no space for them to pray inside the Masjid. Some worshippers even observe their prayer at the parking lot during the summer due to limited space.
The proposed project of building a bigger Masjid will create more space for members and non-members. The project will also expand our Madrasat for Arabic and Qur’anic classes for our children which will be a great investment for our future generation and all mankind. The expansion of the Masjid will also provide a better Islamic environment for our youth and kids spiritual development and for dawa’h activities.
Muslims who reside in the south suburbs will be able to access the Masjid since it is situated on a major road too. The Masjid can be utilized by the citizens to carry out Islamic programs and projects within the guidelines of the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
The Masjid is raising fund to be able to build a bigger Masjid since its members cannot do it alone. This fundraising serves as Sadaqat Jariyyat (Continuous Charity) for those who support the cause of Allah (SW) and we want everyone to benefit from this opportunity. We are relying on your donation for this project to be successful. You will be rewarded Insha Allah for any contribution you make towards this effort.
Allah (SWT) said “O you who believe! if you help (the cause of) Allah, He will help you and make firm your feet.” (Muhammad: 7)

Allah (SWT) said: “Beware! You are called to spend in the way of Allah, yet some among you hoard. But he who hoards does so for himself: Allah is above need, and it is you who are the needy. If you turn away, then Allah will bring other people in your place who will not be like you.” (Muhammad: 38)
Spending in the way of Allah is a trade, a bargain and a business with Allah; an investment that will never fail.
